Air ambulance flight time calculator
Choose two airports to see the distance and an indicative flight time for a medical flight. Use it to get a first idea before you call.
The time includes about 30 minutes for take-off, climb and landing. It does not include medical preparation, ground transfers, authorizations, weather or any technical stop. It is an indication, never a promised delay.
The aircraft class is only an indication. Our coordinating physician and the operator choose the aircraft according to the patient's condition, the equipment needed, the runway, the winds and the payload. See our fleet
How the estimate works
We compute the straight-line (great-circle) distance between the two airports, divide it by a typical cruising speed of 780 to 850 km/h depending on the aircraft class, and add 30 minutes for take-off, climb and landing.
Real flights follow air routes and are affected by weather and traffic, so the real time can differ. Once we have reviewed the medical file, we give an estimate for the actual mission.
Questions about flight times
No. It is an indication to help you plan. The real time depends on the aircraft, the route, the winds, the airspace and any technical stop. We give an estimate once we have reviewed the file and never promise a time we cannot keep.
That depends on the patient's condition, the availability of the aircraft and crew, and the authorizations required, not on the distance alone. Our team gives an estimate after reviewing the file.
Often yes. Long distances usually call for aircraft with more range, but the choice also depends on the patient's condition and the equipment needed. See our fleet page for the aircraft categories.
